Comrade Rodney S. Nathan

Comrade Rodney S. Nathan was born to the family of late Baba Nathan Bawuro and Mama Monica Nathan of Njoboliyo town on 6th April, 1964. He attended Njoboliyo Primary School from 1972 – 1978 where he obtained his Primary School Certificate. He then proceed to Sakato GSS Numan from 1978 – 1983 for his WAEC Certificate after which he later joined the Pivotal Training in the then Teachers College Yola between 1985 – 1987 during which he was appointed as the director Sport from 1986 – 1987 in the Teacher’s College.

Because of his talent in Sport, he was recommended to represent his School in various sporting activities such as handball, Football, Badminton and Athletics where he was nick-named, “Mulele reza”.  Rodney later represent the then Gongola State in various Handball competitions where he was selected for the National Camp to represent Nigeria in Handball in the year 1984. On graduation from the Teacher’s College, he secured an employment with Yola Local Government Education Authority in 1988 from where he secured an admission to further his education with the college of education Jailingo where he obtained his National certificate in Education (N. C. E) in 1992 in the field of Agriculture with (Double Major); and as a student then, he was elected as the director Sport by the institution in the year 1991/1992 Academic session at Jalingo.

On his return, Rodney joined the Nigeria Union Teacher’s Politics immediately on graduation from Jalingo where he was elected the first branch Secretary of NUT Yola North LGA in 1994. Six months later, the branch was dissolved by the National Head Office of NUT and Rodney decided to seek for admission with the Federal University of Technology, Yola in the year 2000. In the year 2005, Rodney graduated with a B.TECH. Education in Agricultural Technology. After graduation, Comrade Rodney S. Nathan rejoined the union’s politics and was elected the Branch Chairman of NUT Yola-North from 2004 – 2012. He also served as the State Auditor II for two months and later elected as the State Deputy Chairman from 2012 – 2016.

The unrelenting Comrade later contested for the position of the State Chairman in 2016 where he was returned unopposed. In 2018, Comrade Rodney S. Nathan was elevated to the position of Deputy Regional Leader of NUT Arewa region representing the 19 Northern States and FCT. Also, in 2019 the able Comrade was elected the 1st vice Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Adamawa State. Recently, on the 14th of October, 2020 Comrade Rodney was once again re-elected unopposed as the State Chairman NUT Adamawa State Wing. In the year 2021 precisely in the month of September, the able Chairman was confirmed as the regional leader of Arewa NUT

Presently, Rodney is a teacher with Majalisa Primary School Jimeta, Yola-North. He is a title holder at the palace of the District Head of Yola (Chika Soro Adamawa) as Barde Chika Soro Adamawa bestowed on him by the Hakimi Yola. He also the Ngara Bata of Bata land a title bestowed on him by HRH Hamma Bata.

Comrade Rodney S. Nathan is a pastor with Jesus Army Assembly, Yola and a onetime vice Chairman of CAN Yola South, onetime CAN Secretary Yola South for 9 years. Currently he is the Patron of different Association and students unions. He is happily married to his lovely wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Walkiya Rodney and the marriage is blessed with four children.

Comrade Rodney has travelled far and wide and has visited the 36 States of the federation including the FCT. He has also travelled across the globe; few among where he visited include:
