PROFILE, HON. VRATI S NZONZO

Born on the 9th of January, 1979 in Yola the Adamawa State capital, Vrati S. Nzonzo hails from Lamurde Local Government area of the State.

He is a thoroughbred Democrat, politician and youth development crusader.

Serving his Country as the Executive Director Planning and Design of the Chad Basin Development Authority, comprising of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa State, Vrati’s journey into public service and democracy started early in life when he was elected into the Students Union Government (SUG),of the Federal polytechnic Bauchi as welfare director in 2002.

He later won election as the National Secretary, National Union of Adamawa State Students (NUADSS) in 2003 and participated actively in the affairs of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

After his National Diploma (ND) in 2003, Vrati took a break from Academic studies, he ventured into entrepreneurship and became self reliant.

In 2005,Vrati was elected the ward secretary of Gwadabawa ward in the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and later Local government Organizing secretary of Yola North L.G.A. He rose to become one of the prominent youth leaders involved in the campaign that brought Admiral Murtala Nyako (Rtd) as Governor of Adamawa state in 2007 and 2011 elections.

Thereafter, he was appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Youth mobilization in 2007 and reappointed SSA on political mobilization in 2011.

Vrati joined the All Progressives Congress APC when it was formed and contested for the office of Chairman, Lamurde Local Government Area and won in 2016.

By the Year 2019 he won the House of Assembly primary election for Lamurde constituency and keenly contested in the general election as the APC candidate.


He has remained an undisputed force in APC and the politics of Adamawa state in general.

In 2022, Vrati  was one of the National delegates from Adamawa State that voted for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the APC Presidential primary election.

By the year 2023 he won the nomination of the APC for House of Representatives, he was the favourite to win the election, but as fate played its role, he was involved in an unfortunate accident that fractured his right leg on the 11th of January 2023, barely 6weeks to the general election, hence, he was hospitalized throughout the period and couldn’t even campaign.

It is worth noting that Vrati went back to further his studies at Modibbo Adama University,Yola (formerly FUTY; MAUTECH) in 2008 and bagged his BSc degree in Economics and a Masters degree in Administration (M.A) Peace and conflict Studies in 2013 and 2020 respectively.

He is currently on the verge of obtaining his PhD in Security & Strategic Studies from  Nasarawa State University,Keffi.

Hon. Vrati S. Nzonzo is admired for his leadership capacity, dedication to duty, outspokenness and service to humanity.

He is privileged to be the leader of the APC in his Lamurde L.G.A of Adamawa state.

Vrati is happily married to the love of his life and has a lovely daughter.
