Asmau Durnin

Asmau Durnin is an International development professional with over a decade’s experience in Programme Management and Community Engagement. She has managed projects across various international development organizations including the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office for Development, Council for Assisting Refugee Academics, London and Economic Community for West African States, Nigeria.

During her time as Grants Coordinator for the Education Sector Support Programme in Nigeria, a UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office funded programme (FCDO) set up to support the improvement of primary school education delivery in selected Nigerian states, Asmau engaged with several Civil Society Organisations and local communities to support capacity building schemes to enhance teaching and learning at the community level. She also worked as Project Officer for the Facility for Oil Sector Transformation also funded by the FCDO where she supported the delivery of Programme goals towards curbing the loss of oil revenue in Nigeria. Prior to this time, Asmau managed a large European Union grant at the Council for Assisting Refugee Academics who had fled to London from war torn countries to requalify via the British education system and regain their careers in the UK. She is recently engaged by International Needs UK to manage community building projects in Kenya and Burkina Faso. In giving back to her own community, Asmau is currently the Programme Director at Mariam Ladi Yunusa Foundation which supports the rehabilitation and education of orphan girls of high school age who have lost parents and guardians due to insurgencies in the North East of Nigeria.

Asmau holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from the University of Leeds UK, Master’s Degree in Globalisation and Development from Warwick University, UK, a certificate in Programme Management for Development Professionals Certificate (Project Dpro) and Finance Management for Development Professionals (FMD Pro).
