Hon. Justina Obadiah Nkom
A Mission Statement gives one a sense of direction and purpose. How many persons have you met who have a personal mission statement? Hon. Justina Obadiah Nkom has proved that her life is all about making a difference and standing out amongst the lot. Her personal mission statement is to eradicate poverty in the society, educate and empower women and youths towards sustainable development.
A woman who professes her Christian faith, Hon. Justina Nkom was born on 17th July 1965 and hails from Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Her educational foray has strengthened her passion and pursuit in the medical and health industry having attended UMTH School of Nursing, Maiduguri 1987 – 1990, School of Midwifery Maiduguri 1992 – 1993, School of Post Basic Nursing ABUTH, Kaduna, 2004 – 2005 and National Eye Centre, Kaduna in 2009.
She bagged a certificate as a Nurse Refractionist, a Certificate in Managing and Leading People (AMA, USA) July, 2011, an Advanced Diploma in Law (ADL) and a Certificate in Strategic Management and Administration (Dubai, October, 2019).
Hon. Justina Nkom is a registered nurse, a registered Midwife and a registered Ophthalmic Nurse.
She has expressed her relevance and competence in the various capacities such as the Borno State Hospitals Management Board General Hospital, Benisheik – 1991-1992, Nursing Home, Maiduguri – 1993-1998, Nasarawa state hospital management board, Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital – 1999-2003, Marraraban-Gurku Medical Centre – 2004- 2010 (as chief nursing officer), Examiner for hospital finals and external examiner for nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria;
Her leadership abilities and administrative sagacity paved the way for her to serve in political capacities. She was the Honourable Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development of the Adamawa State Government of Nigeria in 2013, Honourable Member, Representing Lamurde Constituency in 6th Assembly of Adamawa State House of Assembly as Minority Leader and Minority whip (2015-2019) and the Honorable Commissioner of Commerce Trade and Industry (2019).
She is a recipient of awards attesting to her leadership excellence, such awards include the Best Legislator in the North East 2018, Award for Community Development 2016 and Adamawa State Students’ Union Award for Good Representation.
